HDI circuit boards are often considered for 5G-related products because the layout may need more routing density under fine-pitch components. The practical decision is whether HDI solves a real space, via, or signal-routing problem in the design.

Why 5G products often lead to HDI review

Smartphones, wearable devices, communication modules, and compact electronics can place more components into a smaller board area. When ordinary through-hole vias block too much routing space, blind vias, buried vias, or microvias may become useful.
